Today, I picked up my second to last winter share from Medway Community Farm. Boo! I am sad that my weekly trips to the farm for fresh veggies is coming to a close.
Today, we had the option of picking from two types of radishes. There were cute little purple radishes and big beige and green colored radishes. My son Brennan went for the big radishes and I suggested he pick the purple ones instead. Kevin from Medway Community Farm suggested we might just want to take the beige ones saying, “It’s what’s on the inside that counts!” So we grabbed 2 big beige radishes!
Kevin then told us that the radishes we were bringing home were called ‘watermelon radishes!’ Both Brennan and I were pretty excited to check these radishes out!
And when it comes to watermelon radishes and probably most things in life…what’s on the inside, really does matter most.
Wow…check out what’s on the inside of a watermelon radish! Cool, right?
Anyone that has visited my home knows I am a SIGN Queen. I like to have messages around my home to remind me to stay calm, cool and collected. It’s easy to get caught in the stress of everyday life or focus simply on getting things done…but as we all know life should be about the journey. And I try real hard to make it a fun one!
Sometimes I tell my clients to jot down on index cards simple reminders to keep them focused and happy. They might write, “I can do this!” or “Stay focused.” And I too keep little sign’s in my house to provide some important messages. My favorite sign in my home is this one.
It’s draped on a frame with a picture of my two boys when they were just 3 and 6 years old. The picture shows them laughing together when we were away on a family vacation. It makes me smile every time I look at it.
Life does go so fast and each day is so very precious. I hope that every day we can all find time for laughing, smiling, and pure joy. Don’t save those experiences for a special day because every day can and should be special {and hopefully a little silly too.} I have this sign hanging to remind me of that!
By nature, I am like a hummingbird. I am very busy. I like being busy but sometimes I forget when to take a rest. So, I put this peace sign in my bedroom to remind me to take it down a notch. Chill out and relax. Feelin’ peace in your heart before bed is one of the keys to a good night rest.
This little message is a nice subtle reminder that we are all special in our own way. And yes, this mean you!
And sometimes, in the midst of our busy lives, You may forget that You really do mean the world to someone.Play fair, be nice, give thanks, eat well, laugh lots, and tell those you love, you love ’em…to me, that’s a big part of living a well-balanced life.
And of course, remember what’s on the inside IS what counts!
xoxo

Great post, Kate. You’re right..time does fly by. I can hardly believe it’s my senior year of college at FSU! Regardless of our busy schedules,we must give love because without it, we are nothing!

Hi Kate!
Thank you for providing this list.
I do have one question for you – several of these products are sweetened with “evaporated cane juice”. Is this an O.K. sweetener to use? I was under the impression it had to say “milled” with it to not have an excess of fructose?
katescarlata
To my knowledge it is the same as sucrose so would be okay.
