My first diagnosis was when I was 25 and driving a taxi in SF on the night shift and not eating properly--like too much Chinese and Mexican food and I had the upper GZi series done and then a Barium Enema in the morning and a Seig in the afternoon as I didn't want to clean myself out 2 days in a row; I put myself on a restricted diet and ate 3 small meals a day and no alcohol
and I am already allergic to milk and citrus and lactose intolerant if that makes any sense; after 6 months the symptoms went away until 2005 and all of a sudden I had diarrhea like 8 times every morning starting around 3 in the morning; Imodium --does me no good as the Diarrhea goes on until the bowel is emptied; The VASF strung me out with tests for 10 years until they gave me the low Fosmap diet; and I also got 3 weeks of Rifaximin--now that is a wonder drug and it is like u are 21 yes old again; now I usually go for 6 days of somewhat normal vowel movements then on the 7th day it all comes flowing out but usually only 4x; I stopped dating in 2005 as I was too embarrassed to go out on a date with a fear of the inevitable; now if I go to work (still driving p/t in SF for Flywheel Taxi --35 yrs) I will take 4 Imodium before I go and all I eat at work are oats and honey protein bars and 2 quarts of water---I just completed another 3 weeks of Rif--guess the VA felt sorry for me; the VA won't prescribe Rif on a regular basis as it is an anti biotic and the real reason it costs 800 dollars for 21 tablets--
This disease never goes away; I will need a porta potty in my casket --
I don't know of too many makes that have this dreadful disease; but I believe too much penicillin when I was younger caused an imbalance in my digestive tract; there are always side effects--thanx for reading

No idea how much FODMAPs in the red lentil flour compared to the lentils themselves--you can't assume it would be the same amount. I would try a very small amount at a time.

Wow...oh my god Niki, I could not imagine going through all that testing as a child. That's awful! Glad to hear you are doing better though, despite your diagnoses. I can sympathize because I have IBS and am gluten free and dairy free. :-( Wishing you well...Lisa

P.S. Hope you found relief for your plantar fasciitis. :-)

I had a barium enema and I am still scarred for it. I had my first colonoscopy in high school and they couldn't complete it due to my colon being twisted. So they decided to do the enema and I still remember crying. IBS has been frustrating and it is glad to hear I am not alone. I meet a great dietician and we are testing for SIBO and eorjibg through the fodmap testing. So thankful for all you do!

I discovered a pasta made from red lentil flour. Would it be necessary to follow the same portion guidlines as for the red lentils themselves? And would you measure the portion BEFORE cooking or after? Thanks so much for your help!!
