I have really bad IBS. I’ve been taking yourbiology. At first I loved it. Then like two weeks I had to cut down to one a day and work my way back up to two a day though. Now I take it all the time. The constant aching I had in my stomach is gone. Hope this helps someone too.

Not sure Nancy, but some ppl appear to be sensitive to histamine in foods--though the research on this is overall poor. Fish can be high in histamine as can vinegar. So... that is one diet angle. But, symptoms can originate from stress, lack of hydration and poor sleep. so while diet is often on the radar of patients--symptoms can be triggered from other sources too.

Hi Kate, I’m in week three of FODMAP diet based on your book and doing okay. I passed the fructose test and polyol sorbitol challenges. I have GERD and IBS as well as migraines, so a lot going on (no celiac). Last night I didn’t challenge myself with anything new. I ate grilled fresh cod, broccoli slaw made with a FOD map dressing (using white vinegar instead of white wine vinegar and a little mayonnaise instead of lactose free yogurt) and some homemade french fries baked in the oven. I got a terrible migraine and I had loose stool today. Any idea of what caused those things and where I might’ve gone wrong? I’m getting frustrated. Thank you for your help.

Hi Camilla--fat intolerance can be related to bile acid malabsorption or small intestinal bacterial overgrowth--discuss with your healthcare provider. Best to you!-Kate

Hi Kate!
So happy I came over your website the other day. Great advice and great lists!
I just have a few questions. Have you experienced a patient who has to eat gluten free pasta, spaghetti etc but can eat white bread with no trouble? Thats me, and I find it really weird! I also can't eat red fish, but I can eat white fish in a small amounts! Also I can't eat egg whites but I can eat egg yolks. Too much fat upsets my stomach, and gives me diarrhea. I was diagnosed with IBS in 2017. Have you ever experienced any of this? Could I have something other than IBS? I live in Norway and IBS is not something most doctors here know too much about. So I just wanted to hear from someone with more experience if this is really common with IBS, or if I should get my doctor to check me for something else. Thank you :-)

I typically help my clients work on symptom management via the low FODMAP diet--it's not geared toward weight loss per se. The 21 Day Tummy Diet--a book I wrote a while back provides tips for weight management, that might provide some guidance.
