Kate, the probiitic you mention - BioGaia ProTectis - seems to be one marketed for young children. I assume there's no harm in an adult taking it as well? I take a pretty large dose of magnesium for my migraine disease. My IBS tends towards constipation. The combination seems to have resulted in soft stills, but a still sluggish gut. L. reuteri is one strain that is supposed to be migraine safe (not histamine producing). I may give this one a try. Thanks!

Yes, when magnesium is poorly absorbed--it can put water into the intestine--and works well for some people to help with constipation. 350-400 milligrams seems to be the sweet spot dose for most. It is important to run by your doctor the use of magnesium to be sure there are no contraindications given your medical history --but most people I work with tolerate it well.
