Onion powder is off limits for the elimination phase of the diet. Many of my clients can tolerate very small amounts to season foods once onto the challenge phase of the diet. When I wrote my book, the thought was that onion and garlic powder were okay...but then the research was updated and the Australian's put both onion and garlic powder/salt as HIGH fodmap sources.
It's an ever-changing diet as the research expands. The Monash U researchers have tested over 450 foods and are compiling a composition booklet due out this year! This will be a wonderful teaching tool! Be on the lookout....I will be sure to let you know when it's published.

I noticed in a previous post you said onion powder may be okay. I thought if was off limits? Is there a certain amount I may be able to tolerate?
Thanks!
