Travel:

My husband Russ and I have the travel bug.  We LOVE traveling!    Here’s a few of our fav places and memories…

  • Napa Valley wine tasting and a fabulous hot air ballon ride
  • Walking across the Golden Gate Bridge
  • Sunsets at the Grand Canyon
  • Tower of Terror at Universal Florida
  • Airboat ride in the Everglades, Florida- those alligators are cool!
  • Renting a vespar in Bermuda
  • Hiking through the olive groves to our mountain side hotel, Sorrento, Italy
  • Diving with dolphins, Dockside, Bermuda
  • Running along the Seine in Paris—Eifel tower in view. Nice!
  • Ducking my head to enter the Blue Grotto, Capri
  • Piccolo Bar, Capri
  • Guinness in Ireland: and dark beers have more antioxidants, I’ll drink to that!
  • Breakfast at the Emlagh House Dingle Bay, Ireland
  • Park Guell in Barcelona
Do you travel?  What’s your favorite spot?

    Hi.
I just found your blog. Yummy recipes! :)
Do you yourself suffer from IBS symptoms? How do you cope when travelling?
    Thanks! :)

Sonja–I have suffered with digestive woes–When I was pregnant with my second child, I had scar tissue from an ovarian cyst surgery which strangled my small intestine and had to have 2/3 of my small intestine removed. I have been very fortunate to be in the field of nutrition and have done very well with my diet and symptoms. But…the low FODMAP diet has helped me even more. I do find travel to be a bit challenging if I don’t pack up foods to bring with me. I bring along oats, nuts, homemade granola bars, fruit and other cereals that agree with me. I make sure I have a refrigerator brought into my hotel room to store yogurt and water when I can. I also make sure I keep up with my normal exercise routine. I try to pack an ideal travel day meal so I am less trapped by the selections on the road that often have too much fat, onion or garlic in them. Hope that helps.
